The deadline for entering the Preston Sports Awards is drawing near.

Preston City Council hosts the annual celebration of sporting talent in the city, now in its ninth year.

Seventeen awards are to be presented during a glitzy ceremony and dinner at the Guild Hall in early March.

Former World Indoor champion sprinter Jason Gardener will be speaking at the event.

Coach of the Year (aged 16 plus), sponsored by BMW Bowker

Club of the Year, sponsored by Surridge

Volunteer of the Year – Adult, sponsored by FWP Architecture

Volunteer of the Year – Young, sponsored by CVS Central Lancashire

Rising Star (under 21), sponsored by Millers Taxis (in memory of Sam McCulloch)

Achievement/Performance of the Year – Junior Male, sponsored by Walker Smith Way Legal

To nominate someone or a team for an award you can do so online by completing the nomination form.

Anyone nominated must be a Preston sports club, an individual that resides in Preston or an individual that is a member of a club in Preston.

The deadline for nominations is end of play on Monday 3 February.

The awards themselves take place on Friday 7 March from 6.45pm to 11pm and tickets are £22.50 each in advance via the Guild Hall Box Office.

Note the last orders for tickets must be made by Thursday 27 February.

The awards are sponsored by Walker Smith Way Legal.
