Preston is set to play a starring role in a TV show about Britain’s railways.

Michael Portillo was in town filming for Great British Railway journeys.

The Preston to Rochdale episode is the third in a new series.

Heather Crook, who runs the Preston Magazine, was invited along when Portillo was in town to take some pictures.

She said: “He is pictured in the Harris with Emma Heslewood, curator of History. They were amazing how they both could say their lines with no prompt.

“He was a very easy going and a really polite gentleman. I am looking forward to watching the episode on Wednesday.”

The episode will be screened at 6.30pm on BBC2 on Wednesday.
