In Preston this Saturday 11th January at Waterstones bookshop meet writer Katharine Ann Angel who will be signing copies of her latest book ‘The Froggitt Chain’.
The Froggitt Chain, published on 30th November 2013 by 2QT Limited, tells the tale of Milkman Peter Froggitt who is stressed out and when life overwhelms him he always runs. Now he is terrified. In his new stealth-camper, he heads north, running from the memory of a dead woman, his fear of the Watcher on the scrubland and from his own interminable loneliness. In his possession is the heavy gold chain he has kept since childhood. The chain he took from The Blackened Man.
The story is about ordinary people who long to belong. It is about brokenness, connection and hope.
The inspiration for the names and events described in the book came from unexplained graffiti from a storm-water channel inside Lancaster’s Skerton Bridge.
The book, which has a 4.9 out of 5 rating on Amazon, has been described as ‘both very funny and intensely moving.’
The Froggitt Chain is Katharine’s first novel. She is a teacher and foster carer, specialising in inclusion for pupils excluded from education and the young people she mixed with inspired her collection of short stories – Being Forgotten.
You can meet Katharine from around 11am to 2pm at Waterstones on Fishergate, Preston.
