Fire crews called to Royal Preston Hospital after lift shaft smoke

Ten firefighters were called to Royal Preston Hospital last night after a piece of electric equipment caught fire.


Two crews from Fulwood and Preston fire stations were alerted by the automatic systems at the hospital after smoke began coming from a lift generator room.

Fire fighters arrived at the building after the call at 7.15pm on Wednesday and quickly established where the smoke was coming from an extinguished the fire.

A wooden clamp, six inches by two inches, was damaged by the heat.
