Preston Bus Station Exit Town Centre by Craig Atkinson is the third in his series of books documenting different aspects of Preston Bus Station.
The limited edition book contains 28 pages of excellent and truly atmospheric pictures of the iconic Preston building. Craig captures the essence of what some people call the ‘Marmite’ building.
Craig has shared some of his photos with the Flickr Preston Group and pictures from the book recently featured on the Photography & Architecture website who said about the Bus Station ”You’ve got to love the Brits. One minute they’re all set to demolish a building, the next minute it’s been listed.” They also mention that Café Royal books are little bargains.
Café Royal books was founded by prolific photographer and publisher Craig Atkinson in 2005 who says he is interested in publishing books that document change. He is currently working on a series of books which from various aspects examine social change in Britain and Britishness.
On the CafĂ© Royal Books website Craig says ” it is a publishing house I Originally set up to disseminate my work quickly and inexpensively while avoiding the gallery system, having painted large abstracts and worked directly with galleries for many years prior.
“I am interested in the printed image, mainly drawing or photography based, and how it responds to or creates a narrative with another unrelated printed image, adjacently placed. I am also interested in documenting collections, ephemera and found photographs / items.”
Published by Preston based Café Royal books, Preston Bus Station Exit Town Centre costs just £7.00
