Another story of the disappearance of a Preston landmark.

This time it’s the devastation a prominent public house that once stood proud above the banks of the Ribble at the bottom of London Road.

The Bridge Inn at Walton-le-Dale closed a while ago. Shuttered and boarded up, it’s fate to be a kids nursery. By coincidence, the same fate that befell the similarly named Bridge Inn at Lower Penwortham, Preston.

Unfortunately, according to reports the layout of the ex-public house was unsuitable for conversion to a nursery.

Property Consultants James A Baker put the building on the market but it seems a buyer for the existing building couldn’t be found.

The site has now been demolished leaving the riverside plot open for redevelopment.
