A Ribbleton teenager has been jailed for five and a half years for his part in an assault on two men.

Leon Littlechild, 18, of Hawthorn Road, was sentenced to five and a half years for causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Littlechild was one of a group of youths who attacked two men on Plungington Road on 7 December last year as they walked home.

Lancashire Police say a group of youths fought with the two men, during which both men were stabbed.

One man sustained a deep stab wound which required hospital treatment and the other had serious facial injuries.

DC Robin Costigan says: “This was a completely unprovoked attack on two men by a larger group of youths who were in the area at the time.

“I am pleased with the sentence that has been given and I hope it sends out a strong message to anyone thinking of committing this type of crime that it won’t be tolerated.”
