A bus service running between Preston and Blackpool has been terminated with immediate effect.
The number 80 service which runs via Poulton and Great Eccleston will no longer operate.
Lancashire county Council has put out a notice saying they are trying to establish exactly what has happened to operator Classic Bus North West.
The county council had been subsidising the evening and Sunday service between Poulton and Preston.
The number 80 had been running seven days a week.
A statement from the county council says: “Classic Bus North West has terminated the service without the required 56 days notice to the Traffic Commissioner. They have also broken their contract with Lancashire County Council to provide an evening and Sunday service, which would require 12 week’s notice. Lancashire County Council will inform the Traffic Commissioner of Classic Bus North West’s actions.
“Lancashire County Council is currently looking into possible options including trying to find out if Classic Bus North West are going into administration and, if so, the identity of the administrators.”
The last services will run until the end of today, Friday 20 December.
