Fulwood Leisure Centre is having a refurb

Fulwood Leisure Centre gym is to be closed from this Friday for two weeks.

The closure is part of a £500,000 revamp of both the Fulwood centre and West View Leisure Centre.

New high tech equipment, flooring and decoration will be added at Fulwood.

The gym will re-open on Thursday 19 December and Preston City Council state there will be new cardio equipment.

Cabinet member for culture and leisure, Councillor Tom Burns, said: “The council is investing £500,000 in the refurbishments of gyms at both city leisure centres, which are extremely popular.

“In a very competitive field we must have the newest equipment, offering the best workout experience for Prestonians, to generate much needed income for the council.

“Whilst we apologise for the inconvenience of having to close the gym during this time, it will be worth the wait when visitors see the results. The gym at West View climbing and leisure centre remains open, and people are very welcome to make use of those facilities.”

The announcement on the gym refurb follows the decision to invest £100,000 in a new dance studio at Fulwood Leisure Centre.

Fulwood’s gym will re-open on Thursday 19 December.

A re-fit of West View Leisure Centre gym will take place in January.
