Friends of the Brockholes Nature Reserve have received a grant from a local county councillor.

Kevin Ellard, who represents Preston East, has donated £768 for six conservation volunteers to be trained how to use strimmers and brush cutters.

The training will mean the footpaths around the nature reserve can be kept in check by the volunteers.

They also say the strimmers should help them to control invasive plant species.

The money comes from the local member grants, a fund given to each county councillor to distribute for community projects.
