Preston Bus have warned of disruption to services as roadworks begin on the Adelphi roundabout and Friargate.
Work starts on installing a new pedestrian crossing from Monday 14 October and runs for a month.
Services coming into the city centre, so the 22, 23, 31/31A, 44, 35 and the 68 in the evenings, will not serve Friargate.
Buses going back out from the Bus Station will not be affected.
Services are going to be diverted via Walker Street, Lawson Street, Ringway Underpass and Ormskirk Road to the Bus Station.
A temporary stop will be in place on Lawson Street.
The £80,000 scheme to improve the roundabout’s crossings, mainly for the benefit of cyclists, was signed off in June.
County Councillor John Fillis, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “As a key link between the University of Central Lancashire and the city centre the Adelphi roundabout is a very busy junction with a history of injuries amongst cyclists and pedestrians.”
The county council has advised the roadworks should be completed by Friday 15 November.
