Time for our weekly look at some top things to do in and around Preston for the week ahead.

We’re publishing this on a Wednesday lunchtime so it previews the weekend coming up and also gets any cool events happening in the early part of the following week.

We pick out a selection of events we know are coming up and feature four or five of the best, and we’re always on the hunt for interesting things to do in and around the city so feel free to email us oncontactus@blogpreston.co.uk with details of your event and we might feature it.

One for the ladies…

A festival celebrating women will take place in Preston over the weekend.

Starting on Friday 11 October, LadyFest Preston will see talks, music, drama and more.

Find out more about the Festival and why it’s starting, plus see more details of what’s on when. Oh, and men are allowed to events.

One in Four film festival

Held at the University of Central Lancashire, the One in Four film festival will be showing films about mental health.

It culminates in a showing of One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest on Friday 11 October.

All films are free and there is usually a guest speaker.

Explore Preston’s postal history

The Harris Museum & Art Gallery opens a new exhibition on Wednesday 9 October about the city’s postal service.

The display will explore local stories and runs until February 2014.

Fashion show at Glovers

A fashion show to raise money for those with eating disorders takes place at Glovers Cocktail Bar on Thursday 10 October.

Tickets are £7 from Cotton Court and the night starts at 7pm.
