The walls inside the former orphanage

These photos show a unique glimpse inside one of Preston’s most notorious abandoned buildings.

St Joseph’s Orphanage or Mount Street Hospital in the city centre stands empty awaiting potential conversion into flats by developers.

Flickr users ScrappyNW and k_a_t_i_a have posted these photos showing the insides of the building.

Paint is shredding from the former chapel walls, operating equipment lays strewn around the building and signs of decay and mould are everywhere.

St Joseph’s has been a popular talking point for Prestonians, with many born there and our posts about it have been some of the most popular in our sites history.

And you can see k_a_t_i_a’s photos below
