Traffic at the Broughton roundabout is often backed up due to congestion on the A6
Motorists who use the Broughton roundabout overnight are being warned of disruption.
Major roadworks are currently being undertaken on the roundabout to ease congestion in the North of the city.
Lancashire County COuncil have announced overnight closures starting from Monday.
The roundabout will be completely closed between 8pm to 6am on the nights of:
– Monday 14 October
– Tuesday 15 October
– Wednesday 16 October
Closure includes all access onto and off the M55 at Junction 1. Diversions will be in place.
Workers will also be closing various approaches on the nights of Thursday 17 October, Friday 18 October, Monday 21 October and Tuesday 22 October.
Work on the Broughton roundabout is costing £2.6 million and is part of the county council’s transport masterplan for Preston and the surrounding area.
Changes to the roundabout include new slip roads, widening lanes and adding traffic lights around the whole of the roundabout.
Work is expected to finish in December this year.
