It’s Big Draw Time!
Running from 1 October to 3 November The Big Draw 2013 brings together more than 200,000 people of all ages in an historic art project.
Since launching in 2000, The Big Draw has supported the Campaign for Drawing’s aims by encouraging everyone to draw.
Events are being held throughout the country helping to highlight the power of drawing to help people see, think, invent and take action.
The Big Draw: Drawing Future, Drawing Past
On Wednesday 30 October, The Harris Museum and Art Gallery are inviting families to drop in and have a go at drawing using good old-fashioned paper and pencils. For the more techy of you, have a go making your arty masterpiece using an pad (with thanks to the UCLan for lending the tablets).
Artists Bob Heath and Sam Aylwin will be on hand to help you draw using traditional techniques, trying to recreate some of some the art galleries masterpieces using Old Masters’ methods.
Sue McAuley, an MA student from Uclan will show how to bring the drawing of the future to life using modern methods including tablets and apps.
The Big Draw: Get Drawing
On 2 November to mark the end of The Big Draw the art galley is holding a final drawing event inviting families to sketch and draw their way around around the Harris.
Whether you draw only at school or have a sketch book with you at all times, you’re welcome to drop into the Harris, pick up a pencil and get drawing.
Friendly help and guidance will be on hand to help you (re)discover your inner artist
