Here’s a weekly look at some top things to do in and around Preston for the week ahead.

We’re publishing this on a Wednesday lunchtime so it previews the weekend coming up and also gets any cool events happening in the early part of the following week.

We’ll pick out a selection of events we know are coming up and feature four or five of the best, and we’re always on the hunt for interesting things to do in and around the city so feel free to email us oncontactus@blogpreston.co.uk with details of your event and we might feature it.

Shop ’til you drop (as long as you’re a student)

Over 10,000 students are expected to flock to the St George’s Shopping Centre for the sixth annual student lock-in.

Stores will open from 6pm to 9pm on Tuesday 1 October to offer student shoppers a bargain.

More details on the St George’s Facebook group.

Catch a show at Preston Tringe

Comedy, arts, theatre and much more are on offer at Preston’s fringe festival.

The Tringe is a fortnight-long celebration of the arts at venues across the city.

It runs until Saturday 28 September and the programme can be found on the Tringe website.

Watch Lucy Spraggan (her off X Factor)

She didn’t win the ITV show but Spraggan is setting off to forge a career of her own.

The singer-songwriter will appear at 53 Degrees on Thursday 26 September.

Tickets are £12 and doors are at 7.30pm. More info on 53 Degrees site.
