Time for our weekly look at some top things to do in and around Preston for the week ahead.

We’re publishing this on a Wednesday lunchtime so it previews the weekend coming up and also gets any cool events happening in the early part of the following week.

See Masterpieces on loan from York

The likes of LS Lowry will be exhibited in the city at the Harris Museum.

York Art Museum is having a refurb so in an art transfer day deadline we’ve taken 30-odd classics on loan.

Pub history talk at Avenham Park

Pub history blogger Stephen Halliwell completes his series of historical talks on Wednesday evening.

It’s £2 to hear him talk about the Growth of Preston and its Associated Watering Holes.

From 7.30pm at the Avenham Park Pavilion.

Getting hitched?

If you can stand it, there’s a wedding fair this weekend.

From 12noon to 4pm on Sunday 8 September at the Marriott Hotel there is plenty on offer and to take in.

Vintage fashion fix at Tory club

Dolly Dazzler presents your regular vintage fashion fix.

This time the surroundings of the Fulwood Conservative Club will play host.

It’s on Sunday 8 September from 11am to 4pm.

Support the boys in White

It’s a Monday night kick-off for Preston North End as Oldham come to visit.

Kick-off is 7.35pm at Deepdale and

After the thumping we gave Walsall away you’ve got to hope the Lactics will be next in line for a thrashing.
