On Friday, the Harris opened its doors for Light Night – a night of fun entertainment and workshops. The evening was kicked off with members of the Broughton Music Academy who provided a mix of popular songs and classical music. Some of the artists were fairly young and you had to admire their guts to get up and give it a go in front of a reasonable sized gathering in the Cafe area of the Harris.
Next up was talented local singer and songwriter James Christy. James played an acoustic set of songs before moving on to The Old Black Bull later where he was playing with his band.. The self penned songs in the set where a highlight and equally as good as the better known cover versions. James has a great voice and his soon to be released second album, ‘Streets go Gold’ is going to be worth checking out.
The evening continued with Samba Drummers, a choir, balloon and painting workshops, dancing and even a lace making demonstration. Every credit to the Harris team and the Preston Arts Association for putting on this free event.
