Four Preston off-licences have been caught selling alcohol to children.
AdvertisementPlain clothes policed used a 16-year-old girl to visit 11 off-licences in the city and attempt to buy booze.
The test purchase operation on Thursday 12 September has led to four men being asked to attend Preston Police Station.
PC Julie Stewart from Preston Police’s Licensing Department said: “Selling alcohol to children is not only against the law but can also put these children at risk.
“We will continue to carry out similar operations and will take robust action against those who disregard their responsibilities when it comes to refusing sales to under-18s.”
Police have now distributed posters to on and off-licences around the University of Central Lancashire and additional leaflets to the Moor Nook area of the city.
It is part of Lancashire Police’s crackdown on underage drinking.
The Police did not name the four off-licences caught during the crackdown.
