This is the first of a series finding out a bit more about those we vote in to represent us.

Preston’s councillors have been sent a bit more about the men and women behind the ballot box.

Age? 62

Which ward do you represent? Ribbleton

How long have you represented the ward? Since May 2010 – I previously represented Brookfield Ward from 1984 to 2008.

Do you live in the ward/How long have you lived in the ward? Not now, though I did from 1954 to 1976.

Do you still work? If so, what do you do? I am retired.

If you’ve retired, what did you used to do? I worked for Lancashire County Council in the Library Service from 1974 to 2011.

What’s your favourite thing about your ward/or place to visit in your ward? The open spaces and the nature reserves (there are three of them).

Describe your perfect day spent in and around Preston (what would you do, where would you go?) Visit shops and museums, have a coffee at lunchtime.

What are you most proud of since you became a councillor? Increasing the amount of disabled parking by 500%.

What one thing would you change about Preston? Get rid of the mistakes of the 1960s.

How do you see Preston’s future? Good, if we are prepared to be challenging and daring.

What do you do when you’re not being a councillor or at work? Read and write books.
