Sainsbury’s at Deepdale will be raising money for Galloway’s Society for the Blind.
The search for a new store charity provoked much reaction and commenting from Blog Preston readers on which charity should be picked.
Customers were allowed to nominate charities with the store manager having the final say.
Galloway’s Society for the Blind, established in 1867, provides a range of services to over 7,000 blind and visually impaired people across Lancashire.
Last year’s charity partner, Carers Central, received £1,754 when they were the charity of the year.
Customer Service Manager, Jenna Eaton said of the partnership, ‘We are really lucky at Sainsbury’s that we have the opportunity to work with local charities.
“We are really looking forward to the next twelve months and all that we have planned. For us at Preston it isn’t just about fundraising for Galloway’s, but using the partnership to improve our store and its facilities.
“We hope that this partnership will allow us to welcome and assist visually impaired people into our store, as well as promote eye health to our customers.”
The partnership officially launches on Saturday 13 July in store at 10.30am.
