Police are appealing for information after a driver ran over a man’s hand in Fishwick.
AdvertisementA 45-year-old man tripped a fell into the road near the junction of Fishwick parade and Surrey Street, around 11.45pm on Sunday 16 June.
He banged his head and was being helped by passers-by when a vehicle turned onto Fishwick Parade and, despite the warnings of those helping the man, drove over the injured man’s hand.
The driver failed to stop and drove off while an ambulance was called.
The man suffered serious injuries to the man’s hand, requiring surgery and a skin graft.
PC Tony Hughes said: “I appreciate given the time of night, the driver may not have felt comfortable stopping his car not knowing what was happening and I’m certain they wouldn’t have felt any impact in running over the man’s hand.
“However, I do need to speak to the driver of the vehicle, if you think this may have been you, please come forward.
“I am also keen to speak with anybody who may have witnessed this incident or could possibly provide a more definite description of the vehicle involved.”
Police believe the vehicle may have been a black Hyundai.
