A collision on the M6 southbound has left a man in his 60s in hospital.

The incident between a Ford Fiesta and a van happened in the stretch from Junction 32 to 31.

A crew from Lancashire Fire & Rescue service were called to the scene just before 2am on Sunday morning to cut the man from the vehicle.

He was then taken to Royal Preston Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

The driver and passenger of the van were able to get out of the van unaided.

The debris was cleared by Highways Agency staff and the M6 southbound is flowing normally for a Sunday morning.
