Police have released CCTV images of a man wanted for inappropriately touching a teenage girl.

The 14 year old girl was walking from Inkerman Street to Kerr Place when a man on a bicycle approached her.

He made suggestive comments to her and toucher her left buttock/hip area and continued to cycle alongside her until she met her friends.

The incident took place between 6.30pm and 7.15pm

He stayed in the area before cycling into the city centre via Strand Road and up Fishergate Hill.

PC Sarah Bradley said: “This was a very unpleasant incident for the young girl involved and we are very keen to trace the man responsible. If you recognise the man in the CCTV please contact us.

“I am also keen to speak with anyone who recognises the description of the man and may be able to identify him to us, as well as anybody who was in the area at the time and has any information which may help us.

“Any amount of information, not matter how small or insignificant it may seem, could help us to identify this person so please come forward if you think you can help.”

The description of the man released by the police puts him as over 25 years of age, slim, around 5’10” with a small amount of brown stubble on his face.

He was wearing dark jeans and a black puffer type jacket over a bright red zipped or hooded top with red and white chequers in the hood.

He also wore a black woolly hat, which was tight on his head and folded over, and thick black woolly gloves. He was riding a pure white BMX bike.
