An old road market shows Fulwood’s distance to the city centre
A local teacher and filmmaker has created a documentary about the past of the North of Preston.
The 40 minute film about the history of Fulwood has been created by Gary Cunliffe.
Mr Cunliffe was inspired by a book released in the 1980s which traced the history of Fulwood in a history walk.
The book has now been turned into a real-life history walk for all to enjoy online.
Mr Cunliffe says: “It was made in February and March 2013. I luckily chose a gloriously sunny February day to film the walk around the southern part of Fulwood which makes up the Fulwood history trail in Carole’s book.
As it is a film of a published ‘walk’ I decided to film ‘as I walked’, no tripod shots, the camera walks with me and so there is often movement.”
The film came about when a two day geography and history workshop was being planned for primary school children looking at the Fulwood area.
The Preston Digital Archive has contributed a number of photos to the film.
