Small Revelations performing at The Variety
A Preston band have received the unlikely backing in their career from their local MP.
City MP Mark Hendrick has nominated Small Revelations into the Rock the House competition.
The acoustic rock band entered their song Forever And A Day into the unsigned parliamentary music competition.
Vocalist Jackie May said: “We have played at various open mics around Preston in the past, but mainly Roper Hall and The Ship Inn. It’s difficult sometimes to all get time to jam together as we all work full time and have other commitments outside the band, but we try to jam at least once a week.
“We have had a few unpaid gigs, but try and play at least one open mic a week. We are currently performing a mix of covers and originals, but we hope to write a lot more of our own material. We are lucky that there are so many good venues in Preston that support live music.”
MPs are invited to nominate one act from their constituency to perform in the cpmpetition at Westminster.
Mark Hendrick said “I am sure Small Revelations they will do Preston Proud. I wish the band all the best for the competition and hope that they make it to the finals in June.”
Prizes on offer include playing the Cavern Club, various music festivals and equipment.
Some bands will also get the chance to play a live gig on the Terrace at the House of Commons.
