A Preston woman is wanting to organise a festival for women in the city.

LadyFest is a worldwide movement with events in Oxford, New York and now Millie Lavelle wants Preston to join the club.

The festival will be a celebration of music, arts, debates and more and vary depending on the city.

Millie said: “Originally I heard about the LadyFest idea through Refuge (The Domestic Violence Charity) they posted on their twitter that one of their supporters was hosting a LadyFest & raising money for Refuge alongside it.

“I ran the 2011 Liverpool marathon for Refuge & just really wanted to raise as much cash as possible for them. But I just couldn’t make enough contacts back then, I was a stay at home mum & most people I knew werw busy raising kids like me, so it just didn’t take off.

“Jump two years later, I literally had a ‘Why The Hell Not” moment and I’m absolutely determined to make it happen this year.”

Millie says the city should have a LadyFest so as many aspects of Preston’s life can be celebrated.

The Lane Ends mum of two will be in the upstairs of Pond on Sunday 12 May from 6pm to discuss what could happen at the event.
