A CCTV image of a woman has been released by British Transport Police. They would like to speak to the person concerning the theft of a purse at Preston rail station.
Shortly after 5pm on 31 March an 18 year old woman had her purse stolen while visiting the toilets between platforms three and four.
The incident happened when the victim left her bag next to a sink whilst using the toilet and, while she was distracted, the offender reached into the bag and stole her purse containing her bank cards, identification and a small amount of cash.
PC Adam Birkbeck said: “We have conducted a number of enquiries and have isolated a CCTV image of a woman we would like to speak to.
“She was in the area at the time of the theft and it is possible she has vital information about the incident.
“If you recognise the woman, or have information about the incident, please come forward.”
PC Birkbeck added: “Though this is not a high value theft it has had a significant impact on the victim and, by the nature of the incident, targeted the victim in a location where privacy should be respected and guaranteed.”
