A new mobile phone mast could be erected in the North of the city.
EE, or Everything Everywhere, plan to decommision a mast at the Greyrigg Care Home and replace it with a 35.8m high structure.
The mobile phone firm say without a new mast the network coverage they can provide to customers in the city will be poorer.
Plans for the mast have been lodged with the council and show the new mast would be on land off Garstang Road in Broughton.
Broughton Parish Council and the Highways Agency will be consulted on the plans.
The proposals outline how the new mast would need to be higher as the land off Garstang Road is lower than the current position.
The nearest home to the new mast would be 200m away, with trees breaking up the view to the mast.
Anyone wishing to comment on the application can visit the city council website for the full plans.
