Michael Orr said: It was during the 1980s that marathon running and road racing events became a popular pastime. Running clubs sprang up all over the UK, events staged in Lancashire such as the Grasshoppers Disco Dash, Preston 5, Blackburn 15 and the South Ribble 8 were held in high regard.

“The Preston 10 has remained and it is vital to keep this traditional race alive in the community and sports calendar for the future. The race is organised by devoted volunteers and amateur running enthusiasts; it attracts athletes from Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and beyond.”
