An artists impression of how Fishergate could look in the future
A high street shop will be turned into an information centre about proposed changes to Fishergate.
The go ahead has been given for a multi-million pound scheme to revamp the main shopping street in the city.
Formerly the Supercuts shop will be taken over by Preston City Council and Lancashire County Council to give residents a chance to find out what the project dubbed Fishergate Central will involve.
The works are due to start this month and run until July 2014 and affect Corporation Street, Ringway and Fishergate.
European funding has been secured to create a shared space for pedestrians and motorists, and reducing the flow of traffic down the street.
The council hope the scheme will see a rejuvinated high street and attract more stores to open in the city.
Supercuts will be open from Tuesday 19 March to Saturday 23 March from 10am to 2pm.
