The blue recycling boxes will be phased out over the next four years in favour of new bins

New recycling bins are being distributed in Fulwood as the council looks to bring in wheelie bins.

The old recycling boxes will be replaced from Thursday 14 February.

All old and unwanted recycling boxes should be placed out for collection with refuse bins on Wednesday 6 March.

A statement from Preston City Council said: “Homes that are to receive the new bins will be notified on February 6 2013 with the new containers being distributed from the 14 February 2013 onwards. If you get a new bin, you should start to use the new bins immediately.

“Those homes that have not received a new wheelie bin for recycling should continue to use their recycling boxes in the normal way.”
