UCLan Chamber Choir to sing with Preston youngsters for fundraiser
Music fans are set for a real treat when local youngsters join forces with the University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) award-winning choir for a charity concert.
The UCLan Chamber Choir, who recently appeared on BBC1’s Songs of Praise, are performing with special guests from Harris Primary School, Fulwood Academy and Runshaw College.
In the past few years the Choir has won both the Good Housekeeping Choir of the Year prize and the adult category of the BBC Choir of the Year while also being nominated for other national prizes. The Choir, which was formed in 2005 and comprises 28 members who can perform a wide variety of musical styles.
Choir Director and Music Theatre Course Leader Mark Goggins said: “The University Chamber Choir concert has become an annual not-to-miss event within the city.
“The exuberant members are very committed and enthusiastic to showcase their vocal talents to a packed audience and they can’t wait to take to the stage alongside the three local choirs.”
The money raised will be divided between towards the University’s Harris Bursary Fund, which helps disadvantaged students, and the Chamber Choir.
