Detectives are hunting a man who tricked his way into a pensioner’s home on New Year’s Day.

A 76 year old woman on Linton Street, Fulwood, had her purse stolen during the incident.

The woman answered the door around 12noon on January 1 and the man walked straight past her and into the lounge.

He then asked to use the bathroom, and during this time searched through drawers and the upstairs cupboards.

CCTV images have been released showing the man who is white, in his 40s, around 6 foot tall and with a dark brown afro hairstyle. He was wearing a brown jacket.

Detective Constable Warren Gibson, of Preston CID, said: “To target a 76 year old woman in her own home in this manner is appalling. We absolutely need to find the person responsible.

“I am keen to speak to the man in the CCTV images; if anybody recognises him I would urge them to contact police.”
