SoundBytes Un-Convention in Preston 24 November 2012
SoundBytes and Un-Convention in Preston partnered to bring a very special event to the city. Following on from 2011 the event invited artists, promoters, labels, entrepreneurs and industry professionals to gather together and discuss careers in music, how to get ahead in the live sector and develop the local scene.
This year the event focused on opportunities for artists and independent music companies in the modern music landscape and asked such questions as how do you make the jump to being a full time musician. Just how do you make a living out of it? Social media is the key.
Panel sessions hopefully helped talk through the issues. Being interesting, engaging, and involved in the
conversation with fans is all part of a successful strategy we found out. Give the fans what they want. Common sense you would have thought. But this simple message is hard to put into practice it seems.
You need good tunes. The audience were certainly treated to this on Saturday evening with several live recorded sessions from the likes of Baxter Rhodes, Kirsty Almeida and the simply stunning The Travelling Band (although only three out of the five piece turned up on the night)
Great night. Entertaining, informative….and FREE
