It’s just over a week since the big switch on and I have to say Preston’s Christmas lights are looking magnificent this year. There seems to be more of them for one and hopefully it will help to attract more people into the City centre. As you may have read on BlogPreston recently the council are also doing their bit in an effort to attract shoppers too with free parking at certain times.
This photograph of Friargate was taken earlier in the week on a pretty miserable night when the majority of people had already left for home. Even with all the Christmas lights the exposure was still a longish one and this resulted in some blur on the two individuals who were moving towards the camera. In relatively low-light conditions like this a tripod is pretty much essential but you can still get good results by resting your camera on a firm base like the top of one of the planters or bins. Give it a go next time you are in Preston at night.
