Police have announced that a body has been found in the search for pensioner John Rayton.

70-year-old John Rayton from Fulwood in Preston was last seen leaving his home on Sharoe Green Lane early in the morning on Thursday 15 November this year.

Police organised a hunt for John after he failed to return home that night.

At around 1.30pm on 17 November a man’s body was discovered in open ground on Skeleron Lane near Clitheroe in Lancashire.

As yet, no formal identification has taken place but Police have informed John’s family.

Police are still appealing to anyone who may have seen John to call them on 101.
