Police are appealing for information after a man was attacked on Sherburn Drive, Penwortham yesterday.
Around 4.45pm on Tuesday 6th November, the victim, a 22 year old local man was chased from Moss Acre Road to Sherburn Road by a group of between six and eight men who were riding bikes.
They caught up with him on Sherburn Road, where one of the group stabbed the victim in the shoulder and others attacked him while he was on the ground until local residents intervened and they rode away.
The main offender is described as being around five feet seven inches tall, of stocky build aged between 20 and 25 years old.
Sergeant Richard Horton from South Ribble CID said: “This was a cowardly and apparently unprovoked attack with a large group picking on a lone victim. It only came to an end with the intervention of local people. Our investigation is underway but anyone with any further information that could assist with our enquiries should contact South Ribble CID on 01772 415947 or 101.”
People with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
