Detectives are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted in the City last week.

At around 7pm on Thursday 25 of October, the 22 year old student was walking along Ribbleton Lane towards the town centre. As she reached Fitzgerald Street, she was grabbed by man who then subjected her to a serious sexual assault and then ran off towards Cemetery Road.

The man has been described as Asian or mixed race appearance, around five feet eight inches tall and aged between 16 and 18 years.

Detective Inspector Jo Edwards of Preston Police said; ‘We are continuing with a number of lines of investigation and I would appeal for anyone with any information that they think may be useful to get in touch. In particular, I would be interested to hear from anyone who may have been in the Ribbleton Lane or Fitzgerald Street area that evening who may have seen anything suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Preston CID by calling 101 or alternatively, information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
