City Centre Cafe Closes

Posted on - 22nd October, 2012 - 7:51pm | Author - | Posted in - Food & Drink, Preston News

The popular lunchtime Voi Cafe in Preston, with the tag line “Where fashion meets fine dining,” looks like it has put up its ‘closed’ sign for the last time. The Voi logos have all been removed from the outside of the cafe and a small hand written note has been taped to the front door.

While restaurants such as Nandos and Pond open up for business in the city it is a disappointment that Voi, a very promising foodie venue seems to be no more. Yet another casualty of these hard economic times.

Also sadly closed is the first standalone Voi Jeans fashion store, that was based in Miller Arcade.

Voi was established in Preston in 1988 stocking their product in stores such as BANK, Footasylum, Scotts, Littlewoods and even the American arm of Urban Outfitters. Press coverage included, features in FHM, Vogue, GQ, Nuts and Zoo Weekly.  They were named as one of the top 10 best menswear brands by Drapers magazine in 2010. They opened their first fashion store in 2010.

In 2011 Rhodi, the Preston based group that makes the Voi jeans range was ordered by the High Court to pay SuperGroup £45,000 as a range of VOI’s shirts breached Superdry’s design rights.
