On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September 2012 as part of Preston Guild 2012 and the first ever Square Food Festival, a giant, edible map of the Preston City was built in Winckley Square.
Forty individuals or teams of bakers took part in the mouth-watering challenge to create a 50 sq m giant edible map of Preston using cake and icing in place of bricks and mortar as part ofthe Preston Guild 2012 festivities
The creations were placed on the map, which the public helped to build to create a visual and gastronomic feast as Cake City builders and the public picnicked in Winckley Square.
The winner of the best cake was Sara Wall. She made a cake in the shape of the Old Black Bull pub. Sara was congratulated by the town crier as seen here. What happened to the cake after the competition is a mystery
