Lia Green’s coffin arrives at the English Martyrs’ Catholic Church in Preston in a horse-drawn carriage.

Three-year-old Lia Green, who police believe was murdered, was laid to rest today

She was taken inside a pink coffin carried on a white carriage pulled by two white horses to English Martyrs’ Catholic Church in Preston. All those in attendance wore something pink.

Lia’s funeral arrangements were delayed by a post-mortem examination which found that Lia had died of “significant internal injuries caused by violence”.

Police have since delivered around 40 leaflets to homes in the area where Lia lived, where they were unable to speak to anybody during door-to-door enquiries, asking for information about her death.

If you have any information about the incident or know anything that you think will assist the investigation, call Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log number LC-20120830-0264
