Last week my picture of the week was the Old Black Bull , one of Preston’s most distinctive pubs. This week I’m featuring another City centre pub with bags of character, The Black Horse at the bottom of Orchard Street.
The pub/hotel dates back to 1898 when, would you believe, it was actually Preston’s tallest building. I haven’t been in the pub for a while but I will definitely be paying a visit soon to check out the recent refurbishments. The pub’s website has lots of fascinating information about the building’s history and it is good to note that the charm and decorative elements such as the semi-circular, ceramic bar and tiled floor are still there in all their glory to be enjoyed. In fact, I must get around to taking some photos of the fantastic interior at some point too.
Just like the Old Black Bull, The Black Horse is also a listed building so please add it to your list of places to visit next time you are in the City centre. I wonder where I will end up next on my Preston in the Picture virtual pub crawl?
