Police release CCTV image after man headbutted on Preston train

This is the man wanted by British Transport Police in connection with the headbutting incident

This is the man wanted by police after a rail passenger was headbutted in the face while on a train to Manchester Airport.

A 39-year-old man boarded the train at Preston and was confronted by the fellow passenger, who swore at him and then headbutted him.

The victim was left with a bruised cheekbone and sore teeth, while th man wanted by British Transport Police go off the train at Chorley.

The incident happened at 7.45pm on Saturday 4 August.

PC Keith Holmes said: “A 39-year-old man boarded the train and tried to move through one of the carriages.

“A fellow passenger, without provocation, confronted the man and, after swearing at him, headbutted his face.

“As part of the investigation I have been through CCTV footage and have now released the image of a man I would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

“If you recognise the man – or have any information about the incident – please get in touch.”
