Preston police have seized back over £20,000 from eight criminals in the city.
AdvertisementOfficers raided properties across the city to recover the cash from men known for organised crime.
Preston Magistrates Court approved an application by police to take £20,853.33 which was recovered from the raids.
The largest amount recovered was £4,280.
Chief Inspector Ian Dawson, Head of Preston CID, said: “Tackling organised crime is a key priority of city detectives and this includes taking away any financial benefit that has been earned from illegal activities.
“The POCA legislation allows us to strip people of their illegally amassed cash even when a specific offence has not been proved, but where the money has more than likely been gained through criminal behaviour.
“We will continue to use POCA legislation to take ill-gotten cash, cars, homes and other assets from those we believe to be criminals.”
The recovered money will be split between local criminal justice agencies and put back into local crime fighting projects.
