The view of the front of the Harris Museum during the Guild’s first proclamation

The sound of “Oyez! Oyez! Oyez” was heard across Preston Flag Market this weekend as the Guild Mayor signalled the start of the Guild celebrations.

Tony Worrall captured these photos as crowds flocked to outside the front of the Harris Museum to see Guild Mayor Carl Crompton perform the ancient ceremony.

Aided by the Guild clerk he read out the proclamation claiming 2012 to be the Guild year and throwing open the doors of the city to a month, or more like a year, of celebration.
