It’s really great to walk through Avenham and Miller Park now that the facelift is all but complete. It is a magnificent open space that would be an attraction in any City around the world.
Many of the park’s historical features and paths have now been restored so it was great to see so many people enjoying it once again. The refurbishment has been part of a Heritage Lottery Fund project – I’m thankful that all those weeks spent doing the lottery haven’t been completely wasted!
I thought that this would make an appropriate picture of the week following last weekend’s jubilee celebrations. The floral tribute pictured here is at the top of the steps which overlook the newly restored fountain in Miller Park. The gardeners have done a great job, even turning the flower bed into a Union Jack.
