A New York based musician is looking forward to exploring his connection to Preston when he performs in the town this July.

Singer-songwriter Scott Rudd, from Brooklyn, plays at The New Continental in Broadgate on Friday July 6th as part of his upcoming UK Tour. Though while entertaining the city’s music fans with his lo-fi indie-folk offering is Scott’s main purpose, he also has very personal reasons for visiting Preston.

“My Grandfather was actually born in Preston and I’ve heard a lot about the place; the people, the places, the history, but I’ve never had the opportunity to visit myself, so I’m really looking forward to coming to Preston and exploring my family’s ties to the area.”

When he’s not exploring those ties, Scott will be arming himself with a guitar to perform tracks from his recently-released EP Lonely Life, a melancholic yet subtly charming collection of occasionally delicate, often tormented yet always captivating tales developed at the heart of New York’s bustling indie-folk scene.

Described by New York’s premier acoustic venue, Catweazle Club as being ‘”equal parts pensive, brooding, melodious and inappropriate’, Scott’s candid, well-crafted songs should find themselves right at home in Preston’s established music scene, itself with a rich history of producing talented songwriters and musicians.

“I’ve heard a lot about how people in the UK really appreciate American folk music and I’m really glad to have the opportunity to bring some of that to Preston.

“I’ve heard the crowds are great and the people are great. I can’t wait to see who I meet and hope to make new fans and friends.”

Accompanying Scott on his jaunt across the UK is fellow New Yorker, Jo Schornikow. Having supported artists such as Moby in the past, Jo’s group, The Shivers, were recently confirmed to be playing this year’s End of the Road festival in Dorset alongside Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, Screaming Trees founder Mark Lanegan and more.

Scott Rudd and Jo Schornikow play The New Continental, Preston on Friday July 6th. For more information and full UK Tour dates, please see the Facebook pag at http://on.fb.me/scottrudduktour
