National supermarket chain Waitrose have stepped in to lend their support to a festival promoting Preston’s restaurants.
AdvertisementLove Food, Love Preston runs throughout August to show off the best eateries and food the city has to offer and the supermarket, which recently opened a store in the city, has announced its support.
Cath Harrison, branch manager at Waitrose in Walton le Dale, said: “Waitrose are committed to working with local suppliers and producers throughout the North West.
“We are delighted to be supporting such a fantastic community event, showcasing the excellent range and quality of Preston’s food and drink offer.”
The festival will include the return of the Lancashire Market and a live cooking night with top TV chef Gino D’Acampo at the Guild Hall.
Local restaurant owners are backing the campaign to get more people eating out locally.
Andrea Mellon, owner of Duk in the city centre, said: “Preston has a first-class offering when it comes to fine dining and we’re really pleased to be part of this campaign. Our customers appreciate fine food and food service, and Preston delivers on both levels.”
The Love Food, Love Preston events are organised by the Preston Business Improvement District – which aims to promote the business in the city centre.
