The Continental pub wrapped up its annual Beer Festival yesterday evening, and it’s safe to say that it was bigger and better than ever.
Although it rained on and off throughout the three days, the festival was very well attended. Two large, specially erected marquees in the pub’s beer garden kept the drinkers dry, and played host to some great live music by bands from around the country. Another tent sold hot speciality food such as burgers, sausages and hog roast, which proved to be a popular choice. As usual, over 100 ales, ciders, perrys and premium European beers were on offer in the beer hall if you could manage to fight your way to the front of the queue.
The pub on South Meadow Lane has won the local CAMRA groups pub of the year award for two years running, and with free events like this, it’s not difficult to see why.
